About the event

Relax, renew, and tune into the vibration of the cosmos with a blissful two and a half hour Gong Yoga Workshop that includes a gentle yoga warm up, light pranayama (breath work), restorative yoga, and an extended shavasana or relaxation that includes a sound immersion with 7 planetary gongs, one to work on each chakra and even the aura.

Ruby Koa, 500 hr. RYT and Wayne Marto, professional gong player and teacher from Seattle will work together to create an orchestrated experience that will energetically bring openness, balance, deep rest and rejuvenation. One of the main limitations of an extended sound bath is comfort. It is difficult for most people to lay down on the floor over an hour and stay relaxed and pain free. The yoga woven into this workshop will allow you to have a deeper experience of the sound. Restorative yoga uses props to "do" the postures for you so you can just "be". This powerful combination of yoga and sound will allow you to both consciously relax and receive in profound ways, bringing all levels of the body, mind, and spirit into harmony.

Various styles of chimes, a rainstick and an ocean drum will also be included in the sounds of the evening.

The gongs used for chakra balancing are Planetary Gongs and are tuned to specific frequencies that match the energy centers.

Pluto - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd

Synodic Moon - 2nd and 5th

Ohm Earth - 4th

Mercury - 5th

Uranus - 6th

Zodiac Earth - 7th

Nibiru - 8th (electromagnetic field, aura)

The instruments will be played delicately during the yoga and breath segments and will be slightly escalated during the 45-62 minute gong bath meditation to support you in resetting your nervous system and to help you release what no longer serves you from your chakras and energy field. A variety of mallets will also be used to bring out the full spectrum of beneficial vibrations and frequencies. Just as a body massage works out tight and knotted muscles, the "sonic massage" of the gongs works out emotional issues that we need to release in order to move forward in life. The listener only has to let go and let the sound of the Gongs do the work. The experience is effortless and the results profound.

There will also most likely be one or two intuitive energy workers there to support you in releasing and grounding. The event concludes with tea, sweets, snacks, and community.

What to bring: The floor is very hard and you'll probably be lying down for at least an hour, so if you'd like extra comfort, bring a folding chair that reclines, heavy duty mat like a pilates or camping mat, a yoga mat, a pillow, an extra blanket (a limited amount of lovely silk eye pillows with optional lavender aromatherapy essential oils, bolsters and blankets are available to borrow but you might want to bring a pillow) water bottle, eye covering, and even ear plugs may be helpful in case you discover you’re sensitive to certain sounds.

Each prop can have a powerful influence on your ability to relax and sink further into the rest & digest state, to receive the most benefit, so best to be prepared.

Tea and snacks will also be served after, but feel free to bring your own water bottle and/or thermos.  It’s important to stay hydrated and drink plenty of fluids to help support your body release any toxins loosened by the sound currents.
