Kundalini Yoga with Gong Bath (In Person)

Join Ruby in these special Kundalini Yoga classes to undergo an overall tune up to synchronize with the current season and prepare for the next. Each class includes breathing, mantras, movement, stretching, meditation, and sound healing to strengthen the glandular, immune, and nervous system while balancing the chakras, heart, and mind.

Kundalini Yoga is a unique and dynamic practice open to all levels of students who wish to expand their minds and energy levels. Get a bit of workout while expanding your spiritual awareness at the same time! You can usually expect the warm ups to include some hatha yoga postures or sequences like sun salutes and often even some techniques from other modalities Ruby has picked up along the way. After the warm ups, we'll usually practice a kundalini kriya or sequence with focus that matches the theme of that particular day or the current season.

The shavasana or relaxation will include a 10-20 minute gong bath with either Ruby's Zildjian Symphonic Gong or her Planetary Synodic Moon Gong. Other instruments such as chimes, ocean drum, Tibetan and crystal singing bowls may sometimes be included as well.

Yoga props will be available to borrow but please bring a yoga mat.

Tea and light snacks will be available after so you can connect with community.

Where: Between Sept. & June, this class is usually offered in person at Presence Studio, 1412 Cornwall Ave. In the summer, on select Saturdays, it is often held outside in Ruby's Yard. This class is hybrid and is also offered online via Zoom.

This in person class is free to monthly auto pay members and usual class packages apply. If you think you have a class pass that expired, contact Ruby about reinstating it. If you have a class package already, register via this schedule instead. People who attend Ruby's online classes are welcome to use their Virtual Class Packages in these in person classes.

More on Kundalini Yoga:

Some other benefits that you can expect from Kundalini Yoga include weight control, relief from stress and insomnia, enhanced creativity, lymphatic cleansing, liver detoxification, balancing the heart and mind, developing will power, and a strengthening of the nervous system, glandular system, and the immune system. These results are achieved through specific yoga posture sequences called kriyas. Each class includes tuning in or centering with a couple of mantras, a warm up, a kriya, deep relaxation and meditation (sometimes the relaxation will be at the end). Click here to download a pdf of the basic mantras and mudras we use in class regularly.

At Inspire Studio, Kundalini yoga classes are primarily taught in the traditional style (Ruby got certified in this style of yoga through the Kundalini Research Institute in New Mexico in 2011), but occasionally the warm ups will include hints of Ruby's own teaching style and may bring in meditation techniques and mantras of other lineages may be used.

To be transparent, the founder of this tradition who I don't even feel like naming, was proven to have acted out of integrity in many ways, to the point of causing great harm. I personally never met the guy and feel much more connected to my teachers, Nirvair Singh Khalsa who I studied with in Alaska and who was the lead trainer in New Mexico. Sangeet Kaur of AZ and Sada Simran of Seattle were also very impactful teachers for me. I like the phrase another kundalini teacher I know used to explain this situation, "Don't confuse the humanity with the divinity". Because of all this, I try to be very tuned into my inner guidance when choosing to teach any sequence and also use my intuition to know how to explain certain things, so that it lands for people in a meaningful way, not an outdated or dogmatic way.
